This essay examines how the meaning of an absurd play may be affected by how the reader understands the text. To address this problem I have turned to Wolfgang Isers theory of reception. Primarily I have taken on that the creation of meaning comes about when the reader fills in blanks in the text. I have also used Martin Esslins work on the theater of the absurd. I have mainly studied his research on Harold Pinter.

Branden brukade vara en naturlig del av den boreala skogens dynamik men frekvensen av bränder har minskat kraftigt i Sveriges skogar sedanbörjan av 1900-talet. Detta har lett till svårigheter för flera arter som är beroende av bränder för att överleva. För att se hur stor påverkan brandfrekvensen har på pyrofila insekter samlades ett stort antal arter in efter en brand i Alaska 1999. Man valde Alaska just för att brandfrekvensen där har varit nära ?naturlig? även under 1900-talet.

The global climate change affects the Arctic region the most. The decrease in arcticsea ice is one of the reasons why, it accelerates the warm-up of the region.To understand the changes in the Arctic climate, knowledge about what affects thechanges in the sea ice is necessary. One of these processes could be the relationbetween the extent of the sea ice and the concentration of sea salt aerosols in thearea.This work studies how a variation in the arctic sea ice extent affects theconcentration of sea salt aerosols at Barrow, Alaska. To do this aerosoldata, icedataand winddata has been analyzed over the years 1998-2007. The results shows that aseasonally variation in the sea ice extent affects large aerosols (1-10 ?m) whilesmaller aerosols (<1 ?m) doesn?t seem to be affected as much..

In my work as speech and language pathologist I often meet people emerging from coma andtheir experiences intrigue me. Coma is an eluding human condition that offers a challenge formodern science and our view on body and mind. In my Master project in Creative Writing Iwanted to try to enter this zone that is so hard for a clinician to reach: the personal experienceof being in a coma. By writing HUSK MIDAS I have tried to create a realistic fiction based onresearch on coma state and real-life stories of people waking up from coma.In my exploration of the coma state I found that lucid dreaming is common apart fromdreaming, many patients experience sensory inputs like sound and touch which aremisinterpreted and woven into dreams and creating a feeling of confusion and fear.Coma is a frequent theme in literature and film but is often depicted unrealistically andmisleadingly. A few works like Artur Lundkvist?s Journeys in Dream and Imagination andthe film The Descendents by Alexander Payne show a more reality based fiction.

Manne Bouveng, CEO of Optimel AB had an idea for a new kind of storage cabinet that could be adapted especially for townhouse owners. I came in contact with Manne by a familiar friend for us; we met and decided that it would suit as my thesis.What was needed to be done was a market research that would possibly show that there was a need for a new kind of storage cabinet on the market. Because of this we continued to work on the basic idea. We came up with a solution where we developed a box that resembles Optimels known mailbox Biggi Rondo, the storage cabinet is a new solution of a storage cabinet, adapted after a market that need of a lot of new space. The solution is based on a simple construction which sits an inside hang-off device which can attach tool hooks, tool holders and shelves and so on.The purpose of the assignment was to develop a new type of storage cabinet with some kind of solution to attach tools and other garden related stuff. With this we have succeeded and the concept meets the requirements we set ourselves at the beginning of the project..

Examensarbetet behandlar ämnet zinkutsläpp från biltvättar där arbetet inkluderar redogörelseför problematiken med zink i naturen samt en utarbetning av en praktiskt och ekonomisktgenomförbar metod att reducera zinkhalten i avloppsvattnet från biltvättarnas biologiskareningsverk Alaska Bio genom undersökningar och experiment med olika metoder.Litteraturstudier har gjorts för att ta reda på hur zinken rör sig och interagerar med dess miljöför att dra en slutsats om hur viktigt det är att prioritera åtgärder för problemet. Dessutom har litterära förarbeten gjorts för att ta reda på hur en pH-justering kan påverka halterna av löstzink och huruvida den komplexbildare som finns i vattnet kan påverka zinkutfällningen.Utvärdering har även gjorts av olika reningsmetoder som kan vara lämpliga att komplettera debiologiska reningsverken med och här ingår sandfilter, torvfilter, jonbytare, membranfilteroch indunstare.Arbetet kartlägger och beskriver även driften av biltvättanläggningar och deras reningsverk iSverige. Här ingår vilka olika tekniker som används, hur dessa påverkar miljön rent allmäntoch hur de kan komma att se ut i framtiden. Djupare arbete has gjorts med att beskriva denbiologiska vattenreningsanläggningen Alaska Bio och dess kemikalieanvändning.Experimentella försök har gjorts för att bestämma hur utfällningen av zink förändras medvarierande pH i tvättvattnet och slutsatsen drogs att halterna zink i jonform, som därmed ärlöst, är minimala i pH-området 8,6-9,2 och maximala vid låga pH-värden. Redan vid pH 6 varbefann sig större delen av zinken i jonform.

Denna slutreflektion kommer att beskriva planeringen och utvecklingen av en alternativ sorts arbetsmetod kallad Cloudmetoden, vilken lämpar sig för mindre arbetsgrupper som utvecklar digitala medier (i vårt fall spelproduktion). Slutreflektionen kommer att innehålla beskrivningar om vilket typ av problematik som gjorde att vi valde att skapa ett eget sätt att arbeta. Vi diskuterar och jämför vår arbetsmetod med redan existerande projektmetoder inom digitala spel. The purpose of this thesis is to examine the narrative elements in three of the Swedish artist Karin Mamma Anderssons paintings and try to see what kind of stories that might be hidden in these paintings. I have chosen three different themes as tools for this study. They are: the meaning or the importance of the titles, painting as a medium and the narrative elements or components in the paintings. Furthermore I also use the semiotic method in my analysis based on the ideas of Roland Barthes combined with a feminist theoretical standpoint with a gender perspective. This means my study is based on the reception of these images and what kind of message they might carry.

In Sweden the voluntary socialwork is a complement to the public authorities. The voluntary organisations has become more important considered helping people in different situations of need.The aim of this study has been to examine the voluntary organisations meaning for individuals.The aim was reached through interviews by five guests from different organisations. We have also interviewed two employees from the different organisations to find out if there is any differences in their way of work.This study indicates that the organisations means a lot for the individuals. The social network, something to do during the day, a kind treatment but also the milieu are factors that seems important for the individuals. The organisations even creates a feeling of connection and satisfy other kind of needs.

When a leader changes to a new post in another kind of organisational culture, what happens then? Could a leader use the same kind of leadership when leading different kinds of groups? Different cultures have different needs and ways to handle things and in the end it all comes to situational leadership. Both leaders and theorists claim that the leader must adjust to what the organisation and its members needs. This paper contains an inquiry of how officers have handled their new assignments as leaders in the civilian world of the municipality. The research shows that a former military leader must also be able to lead another kind of group if they change to a civilian career.

Humans in the arctic area, from the same in the north of Scandinavia to the inuites in Greenland, have a common way of viewing the world that stems from anemismen.

The main problem that is seen in schools is that teachers sometimes don not reflect on what kind of pupils they have in the class and therefore do not adapt their way of communicate, which can lead to confusion and misunderstandings from the pupils side.In this essay I have study a teacher?s way to communicate with her pupils depending of what kind of class she has. The main question is How the dialogue between teacher and pupils looks like, and after that there are two more questions that are answered.The method in this essay is of a qualitative form where the observation is the main method to gather the empiric parts. The analysis is also of a qualitative form.The theoretical frame is taken from different scholars but the main focus lies in the subject of communication and dialogue and how these subjects are depending on the relationships  between people. But there are also a theory from Bahktin were he points out how to succeed with a dialogue in a classroom.The conclusion in this essay is that communication and dialogue in the classrooms are important regardless what kind of pupils you as a teacher have.

The Swedish school reflects the society that we have today, a society with many different ethnical and cultural backgrounds. The purpose of this investigation is to study how the school is working with children that recently immigrated to Sweden. What kind of methods are they using at school, to get the best development as possible? Do the teachers manage to be concerned of the students in the school? What kind of reception do these children get in the school? What methods are the teachers using? And are these methods really the best to use to enhance the language and cognitive development of these students?The methods I have been using to examine these questions have been qualitative. I have interviewed three teachers about their everyday work in a multiethnic school south of Stockholm.
